- Acenocoumarol is an oral anticoagulant derived from coumarin. Its mode of action is to inhibit the synthesis of vitamin K.
- It prevents the formation of clots or thrombi in the blood and is absorbed very rapidly. It acts primarily as a vitamin K antagonist by inhibiting the growth of clots already formed and preventing the formation of clots that may obstruct circulation in blood vessels.
