Corticosteroids for systemic use

• Hydrocortisone 21-acetate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid and a corticosteroid ester.
• Synthetic corticoids, including this specialty, are used mainly for their anti-inflammatory effect. At high doses, they decrease the immune response. Their metabolic and sodium retention effect is less than that of hydrocortisone.
