• Dextromethorphan hydrobromide is the hydrobromide salt form of dextromethorphan, a synthetic, methylated, dextrorotatory analogue of levorphanol.
• It crosses the blood-brain barrier and activates sigma opioid receptors on the cough center in the central nervous system, thereby suppressing the cough reflex.
