Diuretics

• Flurosemide is a loop diuretic, with a very short and powerful action.
• White or almost white crystalline powder. Pratically insoluble in ethanol (96%), pratically insoluble in methylene chloride. It dissolves in dilute solutions of alkali hydroxides.
• It inhibits sodium reabsorption in the ascending branch of the loop of Henle, more precisely in the proximal and distal convoluted tubules. It is an inhibition of the Na+/K+/Cl- transporter.
