• Guaifenesin is an expectorant.
• White or Almost white crystalline powder.
• It is thought to act as an expectorant by increasing the volume and reducing the viscosity of secretions in the trachea and bronchi. It may facilitate the flow of secretions from the airways by allowing ciliary movements to carry the released secretions upward toward the pharynx.
