Beta blocking agents

• Atenolol is characterized by three pharmacological properties: cardioselective beta-1 beta-blocker activity, antiarrhythmic effect, and lack of partial agonist power.
• White or almost white powder. Sparingly soluble in water, soluble in anhydrous ethanol, slightly soluble in methylene chloride.
• Reduces the arrival of nerve impulses to the heart and the contraction of blood vessels, reduces the heart's oxygen consumption and blocks certain functions of the sympathetic nervous system. It is a ?1-receptor antagonist responsible for increasing the heart rate.
