• Ipratropium is an inhaled anticholinergic bronchodilator.
• White or almost white crystalline powdet. Soluble in water, freely soluble in methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol (96%).
• Administered by inhalation, ipratropium bromide exerts a preferential competitive action at the level of cholinergic receptors of the bronchial smooth muscle leading to its relaxation and bronchodilation by parasympatholytic effect.
