• Cefotaxime sodium is the sodium salt form of cefotaxime, a beta-lactam antibiotic, third generation cephalosporin with bactericidal activity.
• White or very pale yellow crystal powder.
• It binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This leads to weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis.
