• Ceftiofur sodium is the sodium salt form of ceftiofur, a semisynthetic, beta-lactamase-stable, broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin with antibacterial activity.

• It binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This leads to weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis.
