- Ceftriaxone sodium is the sodium salt form of ceftriaxone, a third generation cephalosporin beta-lactam antibiotic with bactericidal activity.
- It binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. This leads to weakening of the bacterial cell wall and causes cell lysis.
