- Danazol is a gonadotropin inhibiting molecule used as a drug in endometriosis and in hereditary angioedema.
- It inhibits the synthesis and release of pituitary gonadotropins; this leads to a slowing down of ovarian activity with suppression of ovulation, atrophy of the endometrium and hypoestrogenism. The amenorrhea obtained and the atrophying effect of danazol are used in the treatment of endometriosis.
