• Entacapone is a specific and reversible inhibitor of catechol-O-methyltransferase.
• White to light yellow solid.
• It acts primarily at the peripheral level and is intended for use in combination with drugs containing levodopa. It decreases the biotransformation of levodopa to 3-O-methyldopa by inhibition of the COMT enzyme.
