Antihypertensives

• Eprosartan is an antihypertensive drug that belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker family.
• It acts on the renin-angiotensin system to decrease total peripheral resistance in two ways. First, it blocks the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors on vascular smooth muscle, resulting in vascular dilation. Second, it inhibits sympathetic norepinephrine production, which further reduces blood pressure.
