- Etoricoxib is a selective COX-2 inhibitor.
- It selectively inhibits isoform 2 of the cyclooxygenase enzyme. It has about 106-fold selectivity for COX-2 inhibition compared to COX-1. This reduces the generation of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid.
