- Glibenclamide is an antidiabetic drug, belonging to the sulfonylurea class.
- White or very pale yellow crystal powder.
- It acts by binding and activating sulfonylurea receptor 1, the ATP-sensitive potassium channel regulatory subunit in pancreatic ? cells. Depolarization opens calcium-dependent calcium channels, resulting in the influx of Ca2+ calcium cations into the ?-cells and subsequent release of insulin.
