• Tragacanth is a dried exudation obtained form the stems and branches of astragalus gummifer labilladiere and other asiatic species of astragalus.
• White to yellowish-white powder.
• It consist mainly of a high molecular weight polysaccharides wich, on hydrolysis, yield galacturonic acid, galactose, arabinose, xylose and fucose.
