• Doxycycline hyclate is the hyclate salt form of doxycycline, a synthetic broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic with antimicrobial activity.
• Yellow or slightly pale yellow crystalline powder.
• It reversibly binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, and possibly also to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby blocking the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. This results in inhibition of protein synthesis.
