Antihypertensives

• Irbesartan is an antihypertensive drug that belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker family.
• White or Almost white crystalline powder.
• It blocks all effects of angiotensin II, involving AT1 receptors, regardless of the origin or route of angiotensin II synthesis. Selective angiotensin II receptor antagonism causes an increase in plasma renin levels and angiotensin II levels, and a decrease in plasma aldosterone concentration.
