Drugs for acid related disorders
- Esomeprazole Magnesium dihydrate is the magnesium dihydrate salt of esomeprazole, the S-isomer of omeprazole, with gastric proton pump inhibitor activity.
- It is protonated and converted to the active achiral sulfenamide. It then forms one or more covalent disulfide bonds with the hydrogen-potassium-adenosine triphosphatase of the proton pump, thereby inhibiting its activity and the secretion by the parietal cells of H+ ions into the gastric lumen.
