• Chlorpheniramine maleate is a synthetic alkylamine derivative used in allergic reactions.
• White or Almost white crystalline powder.
• It acts primarily as a potent H1 antihistamine. Specifically, it is a potent reverse agonist of the histamine H1 receptor. The drug is also described as having weak anticholinergic activity by acting as an antagonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors.
