• Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant as well as a thymoregulator.
• White or slightly pale reddish yellow crystalline powder.
• Its activity is essentially due to its metabolite. This would create a blockage of voltage-dependent sodium channels, which has a stabilizing effect on hyperexcited neuronal membranes.
