Anesthetics

• Oxetacaine is a powerful local anesthetic of the amino acid family.
• White or almost white powder. Pratically insoluble in water, freely soluble in methanol, soluble in ethyl acetate.
• It blocks the propagation of action potentials by interacting directly with fast sodium channels. Its site of action is at the intracellular portion of the sodium channels.
