Anesthetics

• Prilocaine is a local anesthetic of the amino acid family.
• White or almost white, crystalline powder. Slightly soluble in water, very soluble in acetone and ethanol (96%).
• It blocks the propagation of action potentials by interacting directly with fast sodium channels. Its site of action is at the intracellular portion of the sodium channels.
